Temple of Hathor, Dendara — the astronomical ceiling.

Dendara's ceiling was black with the soot of centuries of habitation until it was cleaned in the 2000s. What came back is the only painted astronomical ceiling in Egypt still readable in colour: vultures down the central band, the zodiac, and Nut swallowing the sun each evening to give birth to it at dawn. Shot at ISO 6400 — tripods are not permitted, and the only light is what reaches the roof from the doorway.
